Nathan Drake found dead

Nathan Drake, star of the popular video game series Uncharted, was found dead late last night in his private Spanish villa.

Drake, a world-renowned adventurer and descendant of Sir Francis Drake, recently wrapped his role in the upcoming third installment of the Uncharted series, titled Drake’s Deception. He was enjoying a short break before resuming work on a smaller project when the incident occurred. He was discovered dead in his room by long-time friend and confidante Victor Sullivan.

“I knew something was wrong when I called ‘Marco’ and got no response,” choked Sullivan through tears. “He just lay there, motionless, shirt half-tucked. He even managed to scrawl out one final message on the wall before giving up the ghost: ‘Tell Jeff I’m sorry.’”

While the cause of death has not yet been made public, sources have revealed that a simple peanut allergy may have been what finally did the globe-trotter in, a feat that not even hundreds of bullets, a crazy train sequence, and a sinking ocean liner could manage.

The tragic and premature death of Drake is not expected to interfere with the release of Uncharted 3. Sources close to the project are calling it Drake’s finest work – his Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight, or his Bernie Mac in Old Dogs.

Drake will be remembered for all the people he murdered in his tireless quest for treasure, including noted criminals Atoq Navarro and Zoran Lazarevic. His death toll is reported to be over 10,000, which, put in perspective, is enough dead bodies to fill 5,000 economy-size caskets.

Drake is survived by his loving family of treasure seekers, a whimsical group that he would often join on continent-spanning archaeological excursions, known as “The Funky Bunch.”

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception releases on November 1, 2011 for the PlayStation 3.
